Press Release: Skills for Life Community Programme
Citizens Advice Rushmoor launches new ‘Skills for Life’ programme to help local people build confidence and prevent crisis
Aldershot, [17/10/2025] — Citizens Advice Rushmoor has launched a new community programme to help local people build the skills and confidence they need to tackle everyday challenges and prevent crisis before it happens.
Skills for Life brings together Citizens Advice Rushmoor’s existing community initiatives — including Advice First Aid, the Energy Outreach Programme and a range of financial capability and consumer workshops — into one cohesive, accessible offer.
The programme delivers free, practical workshops and outreach sessions that help people manage their money, stay safe at home, avoid scams and make informed choices about their finances, energy use and wellbeing.
Sessions are delivered through a mix of interactive workshops, community outreach and one-to-one support, tailored to the needs of each group to ensure they are relevant, accessible and engaging.
Joel Stewart, Community Development Manager at Citizens Advice Rushmoor, said:
“Every year, thousands of people come to us because they’re facing eviction, debt recovery, energy disconnection, scams or serious safety issues at home.
In most cases, an earlier intervention could have prevented things from getting worse. That’s why we’re taking our advice out into the community — to empower people before problems become crises. Through Skills for Life, we want to help people in Rushmoor build a healthier, more secure future.”
By bringing together our most successful existing community programmes, Skills for Life provides a single, flexible framework for prevention and early help — giving people the knowledge, confidence and tools to take control of their circumstances.
The programme will reach across the community — including people who may be underrepresented or face additional barriers — and will work in partnership with local organisations to create long-lasting benefits for individuals and the wider community.
