Black Lives Matter

As the protests in the US and the UK around George Floyd’s murder continue to unfold, it is a reminder of the sickening, systematic racism and injustice faced by our Black community.

Here at Citizens Advice Rushmoor, we reaffirm our support and commitment to equality and inclusion. In order to be a truly equal community, change needs to happen.

Racism is an urgent issue in the UK: we all have a role to play in tackling it at a structural and individual level.  As a charity that provides independent advice and information services, we wanted to share some advice and ways to get support for people who have been targets of racism and discrimination.

The Equality Advisory Support Service also runs this Helpline which can help with all aspects of discrimination and hate crime.

There following charities are just a few of many who offer a range of resources and information on tackling and reporting racism, as well as offering support:

  • Stop Hate UK – Challenging hate crime and discrimination
  • Runnymede Trust Produces a range of publications, resources and educational materials relating to race and inequality
  • The Conscious Kid – Parenting resources for black families
  • Report it – Police online form to report hate crime
