Facts about Smoking
Swap to Stop
The NHS supports the “Swap to Stop” approach, which encourages people currently smoking to switch from cigarettes to less harmful nicotine products (such as nicotine replacement therapies and in some schemes, vaping products.
The core idea is that while stopping all nicotine use is the healthiest option, moving away from tobacco can greatly reduce harm and can help people work towards quitting completely.

Know the law – The Tobacco and Vapes Act
The law on tobacco sales is changing. Under the new Tobacco and Vapes Act, anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 can’t be legally sold tobacco. The legislation gradually raises the legal age of sale for tobacco, with the aim of creating the UK’s first smoke-free generation.
