Press Release: New Chief Officer
Citizens Advice Rushmoor announces new Chief Officer
Citizens Advice Rushmoor are delighted to name Calum Stewart as its new Chief Officer.
Calum has spent the last six months in role on an interim basis at the charity, which supports over 10,000 clients each year with the everyday problems they face. He succeeds Alex Hughes, who retired in January after 34 years within the service.
Andrew Levey, Chair of the Trustee Board, said: “I’m delighted to say that, after a period covering the role on an interim basis, the Trustee Board have confirmed the appointment of Calum as Chief Officer. The Board recognise the highly effective way in which Calum is driving the service forward, including the excellent outcome of our recent Leadership Self-Assessment visit, and were keen to make his role permanent. I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating him.”
Calum has been involved with the organisation’s work for the last 8 years; first as a volunteer adviser, followed by four years as a Trustee, and latterly as Deputy Chief Officer. Rushmoor born and raised, Calum knows the communities the charity serves well and also brings with him a wealth of experience from roles across local and national government.
Calum said he was “thrilled” to have been appointed. “I’ve learnt throughout my time at Citizens Advice Rushmoor – as a volunteer, trustee, and staff member – how great our people are. This is a charity of people ― caring, passionate, experienced, and hardworking people. I’m honoured to be a small part of this amazing, diverse organisation, and want to thank the Board for their continued faith in me to lead us into what continues to be an increasingly challenging period for both our service and the clients we serve”, he added.
“Thousands of staff and volunteers have come to our charity over the last 84 years to help fulfil our mission – to use the power of good advice to help people solve their problems, and drive the change needed to tackle their underlying causes. This simple and compelling mission must continue to guide us in the months and years ahead.”
“As we embark on a new journey together, we begin in the midst of an incredibly difficult time facing our community. What remains fundamentally true is that our community continues to rely on us, perhaps like no other time in our history. That community is depending on us now – and we cannot let them down”, he added.
